With an average annual base salary of $146,000 (€134,600), Machine learning Engineering is one of the remote jobs with the fastest-growing rate. From 2015, the amount of remote job positions in this area has increased by 344%.

More companies are introducing every day artificial intelligence technologies, so if you are an expert in data science algorithms and a good coder that can apply your knowledge to large dataset, you are right in the money.

Front end developer

If you are a front end developer working from home, you can earn up to $78,000 (€71,980) as an annual average, according to ZipRecruiter. This is one of the most demanded skills sets on the market, and around 16% of front end developers are working at home with a laptop, the proper tools and good Internet connection.

Even better, you don’t need an advanced degree to begin as a self-employed front end developer. Some post-secondary education, a portfolio of successful sites you’ve built and applicable experience is more than enough.

Now having a strong social media presence is a must for every company to be able to reach the customers, so there is plenty of work for a Social Media Manager. And it can be done remotely.

There are not many statistics about this work at present, since it is relatively new. But if you have command of social media and a sizable following, there are thousands of work-at-home jobs on sites like Upwork.com or SimplyHired.com. The salaries may range from $15 to $75 per hour, although there are proposals that pay a monthly fee.

Information security analyst

You will need a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security or other computer-related field, or even a master’s degree, to get a job position as an information security specialist.

This is a perfect job that you can do nowadays from home, as long as you have a computer and an Internet connection. According to salary.com, the annual salary of an entry-level software engineer in 20019 was around $67,300 (€62,070) working 40-hour per week.

So if you have the necessary knowledge to apply engineering principles and computer science theory to design large computer software systems, or the tools required to test that the software works properly once it has been programmed, you can do it from home.

Computer user support specialist

With an average annual wage of $53,470 (€49,319), this work from home job requires just having a bachelor´s degree. It´s all about decoding technical language for users and being patient, as you walk end users through an update, troubleshoot a network or deal with other issues.

You will need to develop your customer service and communication skills, but this is a remote work with thousands of job offers nowadays.

Computer and information system manager

This is a very high level remote work position, so you are going to need a bachelor´s degree in computer- related fields; some work experience and maybe a Master in business administration and/or a Master in information sciences.

But to lead an entire IT organization or a big project certainly pays off: Computer and information system managers earn an average annual salary of $142,530 (€131,450). Not bad at all, but you will need to balance both technical issues and a good sense for business to solve problems for less, maximizing scalability and efficiency.

Database administrator

With an averageannual salary of $90,070 (€83,055), being a database administrator is a good remote work position, if you have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or other information technology-focused area. You also need to understand about data security, software and structured query language (SQL).

Since databases need to be properly set up and maintained, their administrators are the ones that develop the structure for how data is stored, ensure data is stored securely and do backups of crucial information, as well as produce the right information for the right users at the right time.
